Fleeing an officer
A Milwaukee teen is facing a felony count of fleeing an officer after leading authorities on a high-speed chase on state Highway 29 last week.
Javon L. Alexander, 16, could face a maximum 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
A Shawano County sheriff’s deputy spotted Alexander’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near County Road K on July 16, according to the criminal complaint.
The driver ignored an attempt to pull the vehicle over, instead accelerating and leading authorities on a chase reaching speeds of 120 mph, according to the complaint.
Spike strips were deployed at state Highway 47, but the vehicle kept going. It was found a short time later at the Kwik Trip in Bonduel, where Alexander was taken into custody, according to the complaint.
Alexander was free on a $5,000 signature bond and is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance on Monday.
Felony OWI
A Keshena man was charged with a felony count of operating while intoxicated after Shawano police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the city last week.
Darwin J. Shawano, 38, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if found guilty. He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of operating after revocation and bail jumping.
Police were called to a disorderly conduct complaint involving intoxicated males in a vehicle in the drive-through at Taco Bell, according to the criminal complaint. The vehicle then went into a ditch as Shawano tried leaving the parking lot.
Shawano is free on a $2,500 signature bond and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 13.
Forgery
A Marshfield woman is facing a felony count of forgery for allegedly passing a bogus check in Marion last year.
Justine N. Radaj, 31, is accused of forging an $81.96 check from another woman’s account and cashing it at the First State Bank in Marion on Nov. 16.
She could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted. She is also charged with two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.
Radaj is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Aug. 17.
