Registration is open for the Community Education classes that start in September. The classes cover topics as diverse as canning tomatoes, dementia and the iPad.
The fall classes include the following:
• “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease”: The class runs from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 1 in Room 103 of Shawano Community Middle School. Registration is due by Monday for the free class, which is designed to help participants understand the difference between normal age-related memory changes and more serious memory problems that should be evaluated by a medical professional. Vicki Johnson will lead the class.
• “Group Fitness Fun”: The class for all fitness levels will be held from 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 8 in the Lower Resource Room at Hillcrest Primary School. The fee is $35. The class will focus on a variety of exercises; classes will be different each session. You will be encouraged to work at your level and have a fun time while getting the best workout possible. Lena Johnson is the instructor.
• “Yoga for Everyone”: The class is offered from 4:15–5:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room 103 at Shawano Community Middle School. The fee is $35 per person. • “Welcome to Shawano”: The class will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on the second Tuesday of the month (Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10, Dec. 8) in Room 103 at the Shawano Community Middle School. The fee is $10 for the series. Join the new series to learn about your new home town. Bring a sack lunch or purchase a box lunch from the Community Education office.
