Willis E. Pingel

Willis Edwin Pingel, 91, of Red River, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, in Shawano. Willis was born in Red River on April 2, 1924, the son of the late Richard and Anna (Erdman) Pingel. On Sept. 15, 1945, Willis was united in marriage to Joyce Page at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stony Hill. He lived in the town of Richmond all of his life, where he and Joyce owned and operated the family dairy farm. Willis was also engaged as a logger, member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stony Hill, served as an elder of the church, and on the church counsel for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Willis is survived by his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Susan (George) Peterson of Rothschild; three sons, Randy (Beverly), Steven, both of Shawano, and Danny (Patti), of Gresham; 10 grandchildren, Nicole (Ray) Brock, Glendon (Wendy) Peterson, Jamie (Adam) McBroom, Jonathan (Jen) Peterson, Carrie (Dan) Habeck, Melissa (Kip) Werner, Aaron (Jamie) Pingel, Becky (James) Brocker, Dallas Pingel, and Tyler (Briah) Pingel; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stony Hill, with Rev. John C. Eyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and again at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
