Sandra L. Peters

Sandra L. Peters, “Young She-Bear,” 69, of Keshena, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, in Shawano. Sandra was born in Chicago on Dec. 23, 1945, to the late Joseph Peters and Frances Tourtillott. She loved riding through the Menominee Reservation, going to the casino and all holidays. Sandra was like a mom to her sisters, nieces, nephews and godchildren. Sandra is survived by two brothers, Michael and Steven Peters; four sisters, Rogerine (Gerhardt) Wychesit, April (Allen) Dodge, Dawn Lawe and Geraldine Skenandore. She is further survived by her aunties, Patsy Tourtillott, Sylvia “Sibby” (Richard) Dodge and Olga (Jim) Doran, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Peters and Frances (Tourtillott) Lawe, and two sisters, Edwina Waubanascum and Leah Sanchez. Traditional services will be held at the family residence, N466 Chief Souligney Road, Warrington Addition, from noon on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, until 2 p.m. Monday. A Native American Church Devotional Service will be held at the house on Sunday at 7 p.m. with Chris Roth officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Keshena.
