Infant broke arm in day care fall, police say

An infant suffered a broken arm at a Shawano day care center Sept. 29 when she fell off a table that the business owner later agreed to remove, police records show. Police said no charges would be issued in the incident involving a 12-month-old girl injured at Bullfrogs & Butterflies Childcare Center, 201 Eberlein Park Drive. According to newly released police reports, the girl’s parents took her to ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano and doctors found both bones in her right forearm were fractured. Bullfrogs & Butterflies employees reported that the girl had fallen earlier that day from a 2-foot-tall plastic picnic table, but they did not realize she was injured. Business owner Jamie Popp told police that other children previously had fallen off the same table before and that she would remove it, records show. Police determined the incident was an accident and did not involve abuse or neglect.
