On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, John Wayne Lesatz died after a six-month long, painful battle
with leukemia, surrounded by his children. He was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on
May 2, 1943.
John attended Engadine High School, where he lettered in baseball all four years. At the age of
17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. John was a proud veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and an
even prouder United States Marine. While on duty in Japan, John was selected to play on an All-
Marine All-Star baseball team. His team beat the Japanese All Stars, and he was always very
proud of that fact. John’s never ending love of baseball was evident by the fact he was a lifelong
Braves fan (Milwaukee and Atlanta). Even during his illness, John’s fondness of baseball
remained. He was very proud to have attended his grandson, Beaux’s, state championship
baseball game this past spring.
John is survived by his son, Mark Wayne, and wife, Kathleen, granddaughters, MariJo and
Elizabeth; his son, John Matthew and wife, Wendy, granddaughter, Alyssa, grandsons, Cory and
John Matthew “Jr.”; his daughter and caretaker, Michelle Lynne Jacques, and husband, Robert
Jacques, grandson, Alexander John “AJ” Hamilton and his special friend, Erin Baker, grandson,
Beaux Myers, and stepgranddaughter, Brianna (Andy) Yahnke; and his youngest son, Travis John.
He is further survived by his brother, Leon Lesatz, and his family; his sister, Mary Domanski, and
her family; his brother’s widow, Jeri Lesatz, and her family; his brother, Dick Lesatz, and his
family; and his sister, Sandra Ketcher, and her family. John is also survived by Mark, Matt and
Michelle’s mother, Mary Frances; and Travis’ mother, Dawn Marie.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Frank Lesatz; his mother, Eleanor Lesatz; an
infant brother, George; and his brother and best friend, Robert Lesatz.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521, Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 3-8 p.m.
Friday. Military honors will take place at 6 p.m.

John’s final wishes were to be cremated and his remains flown to Michigan by his youngest son,
Travis John. He will be interned in Engadine, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in
John’s name.
