2015 slipping by more quickly than expected

Turning the calendar page to November last Sunday came as a bit of a shock. Where did the year go? We are winding down to the end of this year. However, there are some big events that will come first, such as Thanksgiving at the end of this month. Deer hunters are busy staking out their perfect spot and getting everything ready. They are looking for that perfect buck. I am more concerned about not hitting them as I am driving, and have never hunted, but I am glad that some do, as otherwise we would be overrun. With the warm weather this week, I had thoughts of perhaps putting up some Christmas lights outside, but a serious look at the scribbles on my calendar told me that I had places to go and people to see, so the lights would have to wait until another time. Weather forecasters have been saying that El Nino will influence our winter weather, and it won’t be as cold or snowy as normal. I know that while they try their best to be accurate, they at times go badly awry. Many people have been working hard at getting all of the leaves off of their lawns. Mine got mulched by the lawn mower and were put back onto the lawn. There will be more yard work come spring, and I am thinking I will be able do more by then. However, at other times I wonder if and how much better I will be by then. It is now five months since my foot surgery, and while I am doing pretty much everything I did before, I sure tire out sooner, and also have more discomfort than I expected at this point. Everyone tells me it takes time, and that I am doing well. I see work that needs doing, but I am not always able to finish the job. One day at a time is what I try to remember. I believe it is good to stay active, but at times I think perhaps I do too much, because then I am extra sore for a day or two. Perhaps I need to learn to pace myself a little better. Every now and then I make attempts to clean the house. Most of the mess is clutter, and some of it is impossible to know what to do with. I did manage to get the dining room table almost clean the other day, but it is difficult to know that at this point, because more clutter has landed and will need dealing with at some point. I am not adjusting well with the time change either. While happy to get the hour back, my sleep patterns are all in a jumble. Plus I had to stay up for the Packers-Broncos game on Monday night, although I watched more of the World Series game than I did football. On Monday night, I was so tired I was in bed by 9, and up at 5:30. I know things will level off in a week or two, but it makes me wonder why we keep changing time twice a year. All of my clocks have not been adjusted as yet, so that is also a cause for confusion. So, the calendars turned again, month by month the year goes by. Soon we will be writing 2016 on our checks.
