Citing a winter storm warning, Shawano County canceled Monday’s County Board committee meeting to evaluate the merger approved in July of the county’s finance and administration departments.
The topic had been scheduled for discussion at 6:15 p.m. Monday during a joint meeting of the finance committee and the administrative and insurance committee.
No new date has been set for the meeting.
Board members in July agreed to merge the finance and administration departments through the end of the year as an experiment in streamlining government. The move followed the retirement of longtime Finance Director Diane Rusch.
Under the merger, budget preparation and other finance duties were absorbed by Administrative Coordinator Brent Miller and Accounting Supervisor Darcy Smith.
County supervisors had high praise for the new arrangement in October when they approved the county’s 2016 annual budget.
