Christopher T. Shames, 26, of Bonduel, earned his angels wings on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at his home. He was born on Nov. 12, 1989, to Elizabeth (Hale) Shames and Eric T. Shames.
Christopher was born with a heart defect and suffered a catastrophic brain injury in surgery as a toddler in 1992. He was cared for at home by his mother. Christopher had a faithful companion in his service dog, Gabe, whom he received from Canine Companions for Independence.
Christopher is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Shames, of Bonduel; his father, Eric Shames, of Westchester, New York; his grandmother, Jule Hale, of Green Bay; two uncles, Dr. John (Marti) Hale and Gary Shames; as well as his cousins, Jack, Kate, Julia and David.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John P. Hale Esq., and his paternal grandparents, Terence and June Shames.
Memorial services will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services.
