The Clintonville Police Department has received three reports of a suspicious vehicle near St. Martin Lutheran and Rexford-Longfellow Elementary schools this week, according to a press release issued Thursday.
The initial report indicated that two students walking to the public library about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday were approached by two men in a car, asking for directions.
Another St. Martin student reported seeing the same vehicle and men on South Clintonville Avenue near Rexford- Longfellow Elementary about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police also received a report Thursday that two Rexford-Longfellow teachers observed a suspicious vehicle parked near the south end of the playground on Sixth Street. An occupant appeared to be taking photos of the playground area with a tablet.
The Police Department said it has stepped up patrols in the areas. Teachers and staff at the schools have been asked to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
The suspect vehicle, according to police, is a small, gray or silver car with lots of rust along the bottom. The driver was described as a white man with glasses and a long gray or white beard.
