Four candidates will compete for three seats on the Shawano School Board in the April 5 election. The deadline to file nomination papers for the spring election was 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Rich Belongia will challenge incumbents Diane Hoffman, Derek Johnson and Bruce Milavitz for three-year terms representing the city of Shawano on the board.
No candidates filed for the two-year term representing the town of Herman.
There also will be one race for the Bonduel School Board.
Incumbent Judy Rank is being challenged by Nate Burton and Kara Skarlupka for the two-year term representing the village of Cecil and town of Washington. A primary on Feb. 16 will narrow the field to two candidates.
Skarlupka also is running as the unopposed incumbent for the two-year, at-large seat on the board, and has said she will accept only one of the seats.
Incumbent Dennis Bergsbaken is running unopposed for a three-year term representing the towns of Lessor and Navarino.
No candidates filed for the seat representing the village of Bonduel on the board.
There also will be contested races in the Menominee Indian and Bowler school districts.
Here is a partial listing of other school board races on the April 5 ballot, with primaries to be held Feb. 16 as needed. No information was available from the Gresham School District.
