Richard H. Moede

Richard Harold Moede, 77, of Bonduel, died on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Green Bay. Born on Oct. 10, 1938, in the town of How, Oconto County, he was the son of the late Hugo Carl and Elsa Elvina Marie (Free) Moede. Richard served in the United States Army from 1958- 1961 with the 82nd Airborne. Following his discharge from the military, he was united in marriage for 54 years, to Carol Jean Beilfuss on Nov. 4, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. He worked at Paper Converting in Appleton prior to working as a truck driver from 1979 until his retirement in 2003. Richard built his family home in 1966. Richard loved wildlife, especially his squirrels, pheasants and deer, enjoyed hunting and playing cards with his grandchildren, and meeting his friends every morning for coffee at Home Plate Café in Shawano. He always called Terra his favorite granddaughter, but Terra would always respond, “But Grandpa, I’m your ONLY granddaughter!” Richard is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Steven (Patricia) Moede and Timothy (Karla) Moede, of Bonduel; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Terra, Joshua, Jacob and Jordan; two sisters, Diane Meisner and Gloria Brickham; his brother, John (Evon) Moede; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Moede. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Willard, Ruby, Gladys, Carl, Esther and Sandra. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Roland Golz and Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Visitation was held on Monday at the church from 4-8 p.m. and continues at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 217. Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
