BOYS BASKETBALL Xavier 83 Shawano 51 Cole Nelson and Zeke Gueths each tallied 13 points to lead Shawano in Tuesday’s road loss to Xavier. Hunter Plamann led all scorers with 25 points for Xavier (12-2, 7-1 Bay). Shawano moved to 5-9 overall and 4-4 in the Bay Conference. Gresham 79 Wild Rose 72 Gresham needed a 9-point second-half comeback Tuesday night, going into overtime to defeat Wild Rose. Junior Neal Cerveny posted 33 points and 11 rebounds. Drew Haffner added 16 points, five assists and five steals. Legacy Skenandore tallied 16 points for Gresham (14-1, 10-1 Central Wisconsin Conference-10), and Todd Otradovec added 10 points and seven assists. Wild Rose (7-7, 6-4 CWC-10), was led by Nick Erickson’s 18 points. GIRLS BASKETBALL Menominee Indian 71 Tigerton 36 Four players scored in double digits for Menominee Indian Tuesday night in Tigerton. Senior Ania Smith had 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Eagles (11-4, 8-3 Central Wisconsin Conference-10). Faith Munson added 11 points and nine rebounds. Taylor Mahkimetas and Kendra Webster scored 12 and 13 points, respectively. Tigerton (2-11, 2-8 CWC-10) was led by Lonna Minniecheske’s 9 points. WRESTLING Hawks place 3 in top 8 at tourney Shawano senior heavyweight Damon Braatz finished in fifth place Saturday at a tournament at Sheboygan North, losing his first match of the day but winning his next three. Wyatt Welch went 3-2 on the day, earning two pins and then a technical fall in his final match over Joshua Coopman of Oshkosh West, for a seventh-place finish. Sophomore Jarrett Laatsch was 2-3 for the day, winning his first and third matches, giving him eighth place.
