Pitcher Willow Pecha struck out 11 hitters in six innings in the Hornets’ Marinette & Oconto Conference shutout Monday at STAA/Lena.
Pecha allowed three hits and issued three walks. At the plate, she was 1 for 3 with a run driven in and two stolen bases. Greta Sleeter led the Hornets (8-7, 4-7 M&O) offensively, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a double. MacKenzie Simpson was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Also contributing at the plate was Victoria Loberger, who was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
STAA/Lena (5-10, 2-10 M&O) had hits from Makayla Bushmaker (1 for 3, double), Kayla Boye (1 for 2) and Sierra Demmith (1 for 2).

Oconto Falls extended its winning streak to three games with a Bay Conference win against visiting Seymour on Friday.
Madison Helmle (2 for 4) and McKenna Holman (3 for 4) had three RBIs each for the Panthers.
Pitcher MaKenna Kussow held the Thunder (4-14, 1-13 Bay Conference) to two runs through six innings, before allowing four in the top of the seventh. She finished with four strikeouts and allowed 11 hits, five earned runs and two walks.
Elizabeth Manns scored three runs for Oconto Falls (6-14, 5-10 Bay) and had two hits.

Menasha 4
Holly Virtues’ three-run home run in the second inning of the second game Thursday enabled Oconto Falls to sweep a doubleheader against Menasha.
MaKenna Kussow pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and no walks. The Panthers improved to 5-14 overall and 4-10 in the Bay Conference.
Madison Helmle had two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases for Oconto Falls. Virtues added three RBIs and a run scored; Julie Moore had two RBIs. McKayla Johnson scored three runs with three stolen bases and a hit against the Bluejays (1-16, 0-14 Bay).

Brittany Russell led the Panthers with a two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday.
Oconto Falls won despite a six-run third inning by the Bluejays, who had four hits and advanced on three fielding errors. The Panthers bounced back, scoring four in the bottom of the third, including a two-run double by cleanup hitter Sabrina Brasier (2 for 4).
Julie Moore led Falls with three hits, a RBI and a run scored. Madison Helmle and Holly Virtues had two hits each. MaKenna Kussow earned the win, holding Menasha to four hits and issuing one walk in the final four innings.
Jaycee Mansfield (2 for 4, two runs), Cassie Zaves (2 for 4, two RBIs, run), Alyssa Teetzen (2 for 4, two RBIs) and Katie Sell (2 for 3, run) powered the Menasha offense.
GOLF
Borchert, Lena win triangular
Lena’s Hunter Borchert earned a top finish among 15 golfers at a nine-hole Suring triangular May 14 at Red Maple Golf Course.
Lena won the Marinette & Oconto Conference meet, shooting 192. Niagara was second with 229 and Suring third with 234.
Borchert shot a 10-over 48 en route to medalist honors. Borchert’s teammates Dylan Marquardt (47) and Dalton Anderson (48) placed second and third, respectively.
Adam Huth’s 52 was a team best for Suring, one stroke better than Johnathan Miller.
