OFHS track shut out at sectionals

Junior Bailey Wolf was just 15 seconds from qualifying for this week’s WIAA Division 2 state track championship in La Crosse. The Oconto Falls High School distance runner placed fifth in the 1,600-meter run in the sectional Friday at Little Chute. She finished in 5 minutes, 31.42 seconds. The top four finishers advanced to state. The Panthers girls took 26th among 32 teams in the sectional. Two Rivers placed first, followed by Freedom and then Seymour. Oconto Falls junior Carolyn Malcheski placed seventh in the triple jump at 33 feet, 6 1/2 inches, and sophomore Diane Moore was eighth in the same event (33-4.75). The Oconto Falls boys were in only one sectional event. The 3,200 relay squad of Liam Spillane, Luke Vrooman, Michael Fifield and Matt Vervelde placed 11th.
