Greetings, residents of Morgan and the surrounding communities! Welcome once again to the column written with the interests of town of Morgan residents in mind.
The Morgan Badgers 4-H Club has taken on a community service project that is sure to have a positive impact on our community.
The club’s goal was to raise $1,450 to purchase an automated external defibrillator to be placed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. An AED is a portable device that can be used to treat life-threatening heart arrhythmias through electronic defibrillation during an emergency situation.
To raise funds, the Morgan Badgers starting selling candy bars in April and held a brat fry in May. Their best of day candy bar sales was June 14 at the Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm, where club members sold over 250 candy bars!
Thrivent Action Team monies were used to defray the cost of both the candy bars and the brat fry. The Morgan Badgers’ roughly 30 club members, along with their supportive families and leaders, have truly spearheaded a thoughtful and ambitious project that helps strengthen the community by making Morgan a safer place.

Neighborly note: Morgan residents Charlene Borghese, Joan Korzeniewski and Bernice Paulson all lived within a few miles of each other in the 1980s in southeast Wisconsin but did not meet until each moved to Morgan several years ago and joined the Northern Gardeners Club.
Mark your calendar with these upcoming dates to remember: Morgan Town Board meeting, 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14; Oconto County Fair, Aug. 20-23 at Zippel Park in Gillett, with the horse show, dog show, cat show and small pet show Aug. 15-16.
