Matthew Marvin Curtis Samsa was born Nov. 10, 1992, and died unexpectedly on Oct. 10, 2015, in a kayaking accident in Marinette. He was the youngest of five children of Michael and Sharon Samsa (Abrams).
Although his time on this earth was short, Matt lived his life to the fullest. He loved adventure, sports, the great outdoors, and most of all his family and friends. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 2012 and enjoyed football, wrestling and baseball while in school. Matt was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and trapping.
After high school, he spent time traveling the country as a bear hunting guide in Alaska and a traveling welder throughout many other states. This past summer, Matt took a leave of absence from his job to live with and care for his grandparents and their farm. Matt loved people, serving and helping anywhere he could, and always had a smile on his face.
Matt will forever be missed by many family members and friends: Michael and Sharon Samsa (Abrams), Crystal and Nate Brown (daughters, Aubrey and Kennedy, Smyrna, Tennessee), Heather Samsa (Smyrna, Tennessee), Emily and Layne Kuhn (daughter, Alexa, Oconto Falls), Ben Samsa (Abrams), Matt’s loving girlfriend, Kaitlyn Ohrt (Milton , Delaware), his grandparents Marvin and Julie Fullerton (Lena), Pearl Samsa (Abrams), and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, especially Aunt Carol Fullerton (Lena) and Uncle Kraig and Aunt Karen Sellen (Lena).
Visitation will be at Riverview Alliance Church, 628 N. Main St., Oconto Falls, from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, with the funeral following at 4 p.m. with Pastors Kevin Kuhn and Adam Sellen officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
