LuAnn Newton

LuAnn Newton, 68, of St. Germain, passed away at Rennes Health Care in Rhinelander on Jan. 20, 2016, after a brief illness. LuAnn was born in Oconto Falls on Oct. 25, 1947, to Joe and Sally Vanden Bush. She graduated from Green Bay West High School. LuAnn loved volunteering for Angel on My Shoulder, a cancer support organization in St. Germain where she prepared gift bags to deliver to cancer patients at hospitals throughout the state. She also spent countless hours on the Polar Bear Plunge over the past 16 years to raise money to send kids with family members affected by cancer to Camp Angel. She also volunteered time for events for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce and numerous other charities. LuAnn was predeceased by her father, Harley Joseph Vanden Bush, and two sisters, Bonnie Close and Connie Vanden Bush. She is survived by her mother, Sally Vanden Bush, of St. Germain; two sons, Kelly Newton, St. Germain, and Billy Newton, North Carolina; grandchildren, Courtney and Joe, Lisa Marie and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Brooklyn; five sisters, Judy, Sharon, Lois, Terry and JoNelle; and one brother, Jay. A private visitation was held. A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Germain Community Center on Jan. 31 from 12-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Angel on My Shoulder in honor of LuAnn.
