Panthers, Chargers each win second baseball game

April 8 Oconto Falls 7, Denmark 2 Wyatt Laughrin and Trace Brehmer led the Oconto Falls baseball team at the plate in its 7-2 win over Denmark. Laughrin hit 1-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Brehmer hit 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs. Carter Heroux was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, struck out five, walked three, and gave up four hits and two runs (one earned). The Panthers are 2-0 overall. Tigerton 6, Menominee Nation 5 Tigerton opened its season with a victory, defeating host Menominee Nation 6-5. It was also the home and season opener for the Eagles. Gresham 17, Elcho 0 Gresham improved to 2-0 early in the season after a 17-0 shutout of Elcho in non-conference action. Lena 7, St. Thomas Aquinas Academy 2 Lena picked up its first win of the season in its 7-2 victory over Marinette & Oconto County Conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas Academy. The Wildcats are 1-1 overall. Wittenberg-Birnamwood 5, Wautoma 4 The Chargers improved to 2-0 overall after beating Wautoma 5-4. Bay Port 3, Pulaski 1 The Red Raiders lost their first game of the season, a 3-1 loss to Bay Port in their opening Fox River Classic Conference matchup. Pulaski is 3-1 overall. Manawa 2, Marion 0 Marion dropped to 0-2 this season after a 2-0 shutout at the hands of Manawa. West De Pere 9, Shawano 0 The Hawks were shut out 9-0 in their season opener against West De Pere. Shawano is 0-1 in the Bay Conference. Crivitz 10, Gillett/Suring 0 Gillett/Suring opened its season with a 10-0 loss to Crivitz. Crivitz took a 1-0 lead in the third and added another in the fourth before exploring for eight runs in the fifth inning to seal the win. Gillett/Suring had two hits.
