Bay Area 5, Brookfield 1
The Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team improved their Eastern Shores Conference mark to 4-0 with a 5-1 home ice win over Brookfield.
The Ice Bears pounded away at the net, taking 46 shots on goal, while the Glacier only managed eight shots, including just one in the first period.
Bay Area ran up a 5-0 lead before Brookfield scored at 16:57 in the third period.
In the first period, Hannah Von Haden started the scoring at 6:27 with help from Addison Dahl and Ava McDonald.
Faye Brunke followed that up with two goals, one at 7:56 and another at 9:48. Rachael Beeck assisted on the first goal, and Emily Bill and Julianna Bradford assisted on the second.
Bill scored at 9:10 in the second period with assists from Dahl and Bradford.
The final Ice Bears goal came 16 seconds into the third period. Dahl scored, and Bill and Bradford assisted.
The Ice Bears were penalized three times for six minutes, while the Glacier were called for one infraction for two minutes.
Reese Spiering made seven saves for Bay Area, and Macy Blooming had 41 for Brookfield.
Next up is a game at Wisconsin Valley Union at 7 p.m. Jan. 17.
Jan. 10
Bay Area 4, Hudson 1
The Ice Bears sacred four goals against the Hudson Raiders, with the opponents’ one goal sandwiched in between the Ice Bears’ points.
Faye Brunke scored first at 4:00 in the first period with an Emily Bill assist. Bill then scored at 9:46 with help from Brunke and Julianna Bradford for a 2-0 lead.
Hudson sacred at 1:09 in the second period, but Bay Area responded with Bill’s second goal at 4:38 with assists from Addison Dahl and Brunke to make it 3-1.
Bill collected a hat trick at 10:39 in the third period with a Bradford assist to end the scoring at 4-1.
Kade Kitchnemaster made 13 saves for the Ice Bears. Sophie Thompson had 24 for the Raiders.
The Ice Bears wee called for three infractions for six minutes, and Hudson was penalized twice for four minutes.
