Dennis ‘Mitch’ Michaels

Dennis “Mitch” Michaels, 80, Breed, peacefully passed Saturday, June 15, 2024, with his family by his side in Green Bay. Dennis “Mitch,” son of Fred and Beatrice (Tracey) Michaels, was born on Nov. 6, 1943, in Harvey, Illinois. He grew up in Oconto Falls where he graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1961. Dennis “Mitch” moved to Milwaukee following high school. He owned and renovated rental properties and had his own construction business. He ultimately ended up settling in Breed and building his home from the ground up. Dennis “Mitch” could always be found working on a project, wood working, drywalling or tinkering with something in his garage. He owned and operated the AA Bar & Grill before officially retiring six years ago. Dennis “Mitch” enjoyed traveling with his partner Nancy, was a proud member of the Lions Club and active member in area pool leagues. After being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreas cancer, one of his proudest accomplishments was participating in the Rare Cancer and Precision Medicine Clinic program at Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Clinical Care Network. Although he knew there was no cure at this time for his illness, he bravely spent two years engaging in experimental therapies in hopes it would help others in the future. Dennis “Mitch” is survived by his partner of 20 years, Nancy Lax; his three children, Elizabeth “Lisa” (Bart) Panko, Necedah, Steven (Lisa) Michaels, Ladysmith, Crystal Michaels, Milwaukee; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister, Diane (Russell) Minor; Nancy’s five children; nephews; and great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fread and Beatrice (Tracey) Michaels; daughter, Cathy Michaels; his brother-in-law, Russell Minor; and niece, Debbie Jarvey-Pesek. Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mountain on Thursday, June 27, at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
