The Oconto County School Supply Drive Inc. (OCSSD) is holding its fifth annual “Stuff the Bus” kickoff event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22 at Thompson’s County Market in Oconto.
Volunteers will be serving brats and burgers in the supermarket’s Coke Shack.
OCSSD formed in January 2020 and to date has provided 1,155 backpacks full of school supplies to area students. The group’s mission is “to provide the youth of our community with equal access to the school supplies needed to encourage learning and success.”
Among the supplies provided to students are full-size backpacks, Ticonderoga pencils, washable markers, 24-pack crayon boxes, Expo dry-erase markers, 12-packs of colored pencils, blue and black pens, highlighters, headphones, glue sticks and scissors.
The organization is expecting its largest registration this year with more than 400 students. To donate and become a sponsor of the OCSSD, monetary and supply donations can be mailed or dropped off at the American Family Insurance Kevin Huggett Agency, 215 Main St., Oconto.
