Edith Marie Sellen, 100, Lena, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024, surrounded by her family at The Cottages at Meadowlands in Oconto Falls. She was born to Albert and Alma (Johnson) Anderson on Nov. 21, 1923, in the Town of Oconto Falls. She married Clifford Sellen Aug. 27, 1949, at the Oconto Gospel Chapel where she served as church secretary and Sunday school teacher.
Early on, Edie was a secretary for the ag extension of Oconto County. She spent many years working on the family farm. Edie was a longtime clerk for the Town of Lena, and did secretary work for Huberty State Farm. Edie enjoyed attending women’s study groups at church, fast cars and motorcycles, bird watching, cheering on the Brewers, and traveling. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with and supporting her children and grandchildren, attending their ball games and various activities.
Surviving are her eight children, Gayle (Stephen) Patrick, Chillicothe, Ohio, Gary (Wendy), Crivitz, Garth (Kathy), Lena, Keith (Debbie), Sun Prairie, Kevin (Joanne), Suamico, Kraig (Karen), Lena, Kara (Todd) Van Vooren, Little Chute, and Glenn (Candace), Sobieski; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters Dolores Sellen and Norene Micoley.
Edie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years; four sisters, Ellen (John) Wilson, Vera (Lee) Birr, Irene Anderson, Ethel (Dale) Mikkelson, and two brothers in law, Calvin Sellen and Robert Micoley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 9-11 a.m. at Oconto Gospel Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Maple Valley.
Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Sellen family.
