Shawano boys, girls dominate home track meet

April 25 Ryan Jozwiak Memorial Shawano’s boys and girls track and field teams both took first place in a home meet against Bonduel and Menasha. Grace Chelberg, Adalyn Barkley, Andon Chelberg and Grace Chelberg teamed up to take first in the coed 4x400 relay. Another 10 first-place finishes were recorded by the boys and eight by the girls. Winning for the boys were Lucas Nuthals in the 100-meter dash, Drake Herm in the 200-meter dash and pole vault, Ryan Schwitzer in the 400-meter dash, Andon Chelberg in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs, Mason Theis in the shot put and discuss, Ryan Shanty in the long jump, and the 4x400 relay team of Logan Korth, Maverick Theis, Schwitzer and Trevor Schwartz. Taking first for the girls were Natalie Bystol in the 100-meter dash, Maci Beyer in the 800-meter run, Tela Hopfensperger in the 300-meter hurdles, Madysin Weinig in the shot put and discus, Onna Hermann in the pole vault, the 4x200 relay team of Hopfensperger, Onna Hermann, Gwyn Hermann and Beyer, and the 4x400 relay team of Beyer, Teagan Powers, Lauren Harkey and Emma Nielson. Earning second for the boys were Herm in the 100, Nuthals in the 200, Schwartz in the 800, Josiah Kuehl in the 1,600 and 3,200, James Lange in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Drew Chelberg in the discus, Schwitzer in the pole vault, Joshua Lesperance in the triple jump, and the 4x800 relay team of Schwartz, Joe Kelliher, Owyn Helsel and Lesperance. Coming in third were Aiden Rasmussen in the 100, Korth in the 200, Joe Kelliher in the 300 hurdles, Rasmussen in the long jump, and the 4x200 team of Korth, Kaden Ewert, Micah Welander and Shanty. Girls placing second were Hopfensperger in the 200, Neilson in the 400, Powers in the 800, Hatty Fritz in the shot put, Bailey DeFere in the discus, Beyer in the high jump, Bystol in the pole vault, Macey Nelson in the long jump and triple jump, and the 4x800 relay team of Lauren Harkey, Nielson, Teagan Powers and Kylie Bort. Third-place finishers were Onna Hermann in the 200, Anabelle Schroeder in the 1,600 and 3,200, Bystol in the high jump and Hopfensperger in the pole vault. Bonduel’s Ben O’Brien won the 3,200, and Oliver Chitwood was third. Mason Ballwahn won the 300 hurdles. Winning the 4x200 were Ryan Westrich, Griffin Uelmen, Sam Roberts and Logan Lancour. Capturing the top spot in the 4x800 were Gage Anderson, Uelmen, Chitwood and O’Brien. Roberts won the triple jump. Bonduel’s Teagan Engel, Ashlyn Kurey, Owen Springborn and Roberts placed second in the coed 4x400. Taking second in the 4x100 were Anderson, Malachi Gray, Gage Scholl and Springborn, with third place going to Aidan Beaulieu, Ben Letter, Isaac Seefeldt and Randy Welch. Garrett Anderson, Joah Dworniczak, Jayden Popp and Kaiden Thornorrow placed second in the 4x400, and Roberts was second in the long jump. Westrich placed second in the shot put and third in the discus. Roberts placed third in the 4o0, and Uelmen was third in the 800. O’Brien was third in the 1,600, and Springborn was No. 3 in the 110 hurdles. Uelmen placed third in the high jump. For the Bonduel girls, Paige Niquette won the 200 and placed third in the 100. She also won the long jump, with Cierra Schnell placing third. Mariah Wondra won the 1,600-meter run, and Engel was second. It was the same for the 3,200. Kurey won the triple jump. Taking first in the 4x100 were Josie Anvelink, Sophie Smith, Olivia Giese and Anna Beaumier. Second place went to Ava Reinke, Hailey Spates, Caroline Richter and Morgan Staszak. Winning the 4x800 were Wondra, Schnell, Kurey and Engel. In the 4x200, it was Niquette, Raymakers, Schnell and Kurey in second, with Anvelink, Giese, Beaumier and Rachyl Hutter in third. Smith, Raymakers, Hailey Berg and Riana Bahr placed second in the 4x400. Schnell finished third in the 400, and Seidy Blandon was third in the 800. Addison Raymakers placed third in the 300 hurdles. Anvelink finished third in the shot put, and Hutter was third in the discus. Boys Shawano 89, Bonduel 53, Menasha 37 Girls Shawano 82, Bonduel 67, Menasha 29 Oconto Falls Invitational It was a big day for the Oconto Falls boys and girls track and field teams at their home invitational. The girls took first place and the boys were second. The boys and girls teams won the combined team trophy. The Panthers girls scored 185 points, and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy placed third with 91. The Oconto Falls boys scored 140 points, with Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas placing seventh with 39. The girls 4x100 relay team broke the meet record, as did the boys 4x100 relay team. Nora Bushman won the 3,200 and the 1,600, with Gabrielle Timm placing third in the shorter run. Faith Resch was first in the 300 hurdles and second in the 100 hurdles. She was also first in the triple jump. The 4x800 relay team won the event, and the 4x100 and 4x400 teams each placed second. Resch finished second in the high jump, and London Metropulos was third. Brei was third in the long jump, and Harper Rogowski placed third in the 400. Kaydence Burclaw placed third in the shot put. As for the boys, Landen Schmidt had the best finish, placing third in the discus.
