School supply group gets $5,000 donation

Oconto County School Supply Drive Inc. was recently awarded a $5.000 grant from the Leon H. and Clymene M. Bond Foundation Inc. The foundation’s target area is focused on Oconto County and its surrounding areas. The majority of grants and funding awarded by the foundation are in the areas of health, education, social services, arts and culture, conservation/historic preservation, and community and recreational development. The foundation recognized Oconto County School Supply Drive for its efforts in assisting Oconto County families that are in financial need to obtain school supplies for their children. Oconto County School Supply Drive formed in January 2020 and has to date provided 1,155 backpacks full of school supplies to area students. Its mission is to provide youths with equal access to the school supplies needed to encourage learning and success. The group is anticipating its largest registration this year with over 400 students. To become a sponsor, monetary and supply donations can be dropped off at American Family Insurance, 215 Main St., Oconto.
