The Gillett/Suring co-op baseball team opened its 2024 season with a 3-0 loss at the hands of Crvitiz.
It was also the Marinette & Oconto Conference opener for both teams. Oconto Falls 3, Luxemburg-Casco 2
The 2024 campaign kicked off on a high note for Oconto Falls as the Panthers snuck past Luxemburg-Casco 3-2.
It as the season opener and the North Eastern Conference opener for the Panthers.
April 1
Shawano 7, Xavier 3
Shawano’s nine hits combined with Xavier’s four errors to help the the Hawks win 7-3.
Shawano trailed 3-2 going into the sixth inning, when the home team brought five runs across the plate. Jerzy Brocker tied the game, Carsen Herm’s single put Shawano in front and Pete Bruette’s two-run triple put the game away for the Hawks.
Brocker, Bruette and Thomas Keszo each went 2-for-4, and Bruette had two RBIs.
Keszo pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on three hits, walked four and struck out two. Bruette pitched 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.
Bruette gets the win on the mound.
Bonduel 10, Menominee Indian 0
Leading 4-0 after four innings, Bonduel broke the game open with six runs in the fifth inning.
Colin Margelofsky had a two-run single, while the Eagles walked four and committed three errors in the inning.
Brodie Hartmann and Charlie Tauchen had singles, Noah Weier added a double and Easton Reinke had a triple for Bonduel’s five hits.
Hartmann was sharp in the first game of the year, striking out 12 while walking only one.
Mikey Chapman was the losing pitcher, walking six and striking out three.
Bonduel is 1-0 in CWC-East play, and Menominee Indian is 0-1.
