Gresham/Bowler’s Bryson Nelson ran his way to two first-place medals in the boys competition at the Wausau West Early Bird Indoor Track Meet on March 16. He captured first in the 800-meter run and in the 1,600-meter run.
Other than in the 55-meter dash, where all Gresham/Bowler runners placed 25th through 38th, all other events had no runner lower than 18th.
Top-10 results included: Cody Mehlberg, seventh, 200-meter dash; Riley Hohensee, seventh, 400-meter dash; Kobe Miller in eighth and Mason Martin in ninth, 800-meter run; Adam Gourley, seventh, 200-meter hurdles; the 4x160-meter relay team, fourth; and Ethan May in sixth, and Martin and Miller tied for ninth in the high jump.
For the girls, Gresham/Bowler’s Isabella Stevens earned first place in the high jump, as teammates Addison Fischer and Alivia Perez tied for ninth.
Gresham/Bowler girls earned several top-10 finishes.
They were Stevens, ninth in the 200-meter dash; Nevaeh Teller, 10th, 400-meter dash; Cami Gourley, second, 800-meter run; the 4x160-meter relay team, fourth; the 4x800-meter relay team, third; Fischer, eighth and Jemy Reedy, ninth, in long jump; and Stevens, fourth, and Emily Jensen, eighth, in the shot put.
Shawano only competed in the girls events, with Adalyn Barkley leading the way with a pair of first-place finishes, those coming in the 400-meter dash and the triple jump.
Everyone placed in the top 20, and all but two were in the top 10.
Other leaders for the Hawks were Macey Nelson, ninth, 55-meter dash; Tela Hopfensperger, fifth, 200-meter dash; Emma Nielson, ninth, 400-meter dash; Kylie Borth in fifth and Tegan Wilson in eighth in the 800-meter run; Anabelle Schroeder in fourth, Lauren Harkey in fifth and Teagan Powers in sixth in the 1,600-meter run; Ali Lemerond, second, 55-meter hurdles; Hopfensperger, second, 200-meter hurdles; the 4x160-meter relay team, second; the 4x400-meter relay team, fourth; the 4x800-meter relay team, second; Lemerond, 10th, high jump; Nelson, third, long jump; Nelson, second, triple jump; and Madisyn Weinig in sixth and Hatty Fritz in seventh in the shot put.
