Vote for Dems, not time for 3rd party

To the editor: According to Wikipedia, “Yellow Dog Democrats” was a political term that was applied to voters in the southern United States who voted solely for candidates who represented the Democratic Party. The term originated in the late 19th century. These voters would allegedly “vote for a yellow dog before they would vote for any Republican.” Normally, I would encourage voters to consider the candidates and the issues and vote according to their conscience. These are not normal times, my friends. I would ask you to consider that over the next eight months as we move toward Nov. 5. No matter what happens, the choice at the top of the Democratic ticket will be better than the choice at the top of the Republican ticket. The time of the third party candidate has simply not arrived yet. So let’s use our time, our energy and our money to promote democratic and progressive values, and ignore the craziness on the other side. I welcome your comments. Mary Ascher, Suring
