John “Jack” A. Smith passed away Dec. 28, 2022, after a short illness. Jack was born at home “on the hottest day of the year” June 29, 1936, in Freedom, son of Elmer and Dorothy (Van Hoof) Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthann; children, Jackie, Sandy (Floyd) Vosters, Lou Ann (Doug) Fitzgerald, John (Janet), and Greg; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral Mass for Jack will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2022, at noon at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom. A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass at church.
