Mary Ellen Moede, 84, of Suring, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. She was born in Suring on Oct. 4, 1938, the third child of Walter and Alma (Hischke) Krueger. Mary Ellen was baptized at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Suring and confirmed there on May 25, 1952.
She was a 1956 graduate of Suring High School. Following her graduation, she was employed at Leicht’s Transfer and Storage in Green Bay until October 1956 and then at Auer Steel and Furnace Supply in Milwaukee until she was married.
On June 27, 1959, Mary Ellen was united in marriage to Carl R. Moede, of Suring, at Mt. Olive. They had three children, David, Cynthia, and Daniel. Carl preceded her in death on July 27, 1979.
Mary Ellen was employed at Nuline Industries in Suring from 1980 until the time of its close. While working there, she attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College where she received her associate’s degree in accounting in 1990. Following her employment at Nuline, Mary Ellen was employed at Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring until her retirement in September 2016.
Mary Ellen is survived by a son, Daniel; two grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Halverson and Jennifer (Dominic) Schomberg; great-granddaughter, OakLynn Rae Halverson; son-in-law, Randy (Joni Steingraber) Halverson; brother-in-law, John (Evon) Moede; and sisters-in-law, Carol (Richard) Moede and Gloria Brickham. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; brother, Ray; infant brother, Neal; son, David, daughter, Cynthia Halverson; parents-in-law, Hugo and Elsa Moede; brothers-in-law, Willard Moede and Richard Moede; sisters-in-law, Gladys Gaertig, Esther Hoppe, Sandra Barfield, and Diane Meisner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Suring from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Paholke officiating. Mary Ellen will be interred at Mt. Olive Lutheran Cemetery beside her husband, Carl.
