Charlotte M. Christensen

Charlotte M. Christensen, 87, of Gillett, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, with family and her dog, Lacy, by her side. Charlotte was born on Sept. 30, 1934, to the late Arno and Emma (Pethke) Free in Underhill. After high school, Charlotte moved to Suring and worked as a waitress for a short time before meeting Roger Christensen. They married on March 12, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes. The couple moved to the Christensen Family Farm and had three children: Keith, Ken, and Amy. Then the family moved to Gillett to their next farm in 1965 where Charlotte resided for the rest of her life. Charlotte worked as a cleaner for various people in the area for many years, until she turned 80. She greatly enjoyed gardening and flowers. She loved poodles, always having one as her companion. Charlotte volunteered at the LCFS Thrift Store. She was a founding member of Faith United Lutheran Church, having sold them the land to build the church. Charlotte was very involved with church activities and active in the Ladies Aid. Charlotte is survived by her three children, Keith (Theresa) Christensen, Ken (Connie) Christensen and Amy Dorst; eight grandchildren, Tera (Joel) Matczak, Jonathan (Sarah) Christensen, Melissa (Dennis) LaMountain, Michelle (Skyler Berk) Christensen, Ray (Caitlyn) Christensen, Marian (Neil) Dorst Martin, Lauren Dorst and William Dorst; great-grandchildren, Bella and Ben Matczak, Zoe and Remi Christensen, Audrey and Lucas LaMountain, and Kennedy Christensen; sister, Doris Wilber; and beloved dog, Lacy. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, in 1983; grandson, Matthew Christensen; and great-granddaughter, Angel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Faith United Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Charlotte will be interred at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Pulcifer. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
