Judith “Judy” Ann Peterson, 79, McAllen, Texas, formerly Oconto Falls, died suddenly of natural causes Tuesday morning, Feb. 22, 2022 at home in McAllen. She was born Aug. 5, 1942, in Oconto Falls to Victor and Claudine (Umentum) Peterson. Judy grew up in Gillett and graduated from high school with the Class of 1960. On Nov. 12, 1960, she married Jordan L. Siegel at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett, and they had three sons.
While living in Menomonie Falls, she was employed at Dutchland Dairy and later moved to Milwaukee where she worked in nightclubs for many years. Following her divorce from Jordan, she met an old friend from Gillett, LaVerne Olson, and together they ran a tavern in Milwaukee from 1980 until Judy moved back to the Oconto Falls area in 1996. While living in Oconto Falls, she was employed at Sharpe Care nursing home in dietary and became a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Valley.
Survivors are a longtime friend, Donald Kilburn, Dallas, Texas; three sons, Jeffry (Holly) Siegel, Oak Creek, Jim (Sandy) Siegel, Gillett, and Jon (Vicki) Siegel, Markesan; six grandchildren, Jason Siegel, Derek (Stephanie) and Dustin Siegel, Lisa (Matt) Boyarski, Natasha (Brad) Shucha and Karyn Siegel; nine great-grandchildren, Sina Siegel, Adonis and Olivia Siegel, Kaytlin and Jayden Boyarski, Brook Shucha, Dalton and Daxton Siegel, and Dawson Siegel; two brothers, Dan (Maria) Peterson, Martinez, California, and Ritchie (Sue) Peterson, Gillett; two sisters, Barbara (Kurt Spaeth) Jaekel, Rubicon, and Vickie Miller, Oconomowoc; one brother-in-law, John Severson, Gillett; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; three infant siblings, Robert, Phyllis and Bernard Peterson; one sister, Gloria Severson; and longtime partner, LaVerne Olson, in 2011.
Visitation after 9 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Valley until the time of services. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Fred Mai officiating. Livestream available at https://ourredeemerssuring.org. Burial will take place alongside her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Umentum in Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls.
