John F. Goodreau, 67, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021. He was born Jan. 14, 1954, to the late John M. and Lorraine (Scholar) Goodreau. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1973. John worked with his dad at Industrial Boiler and then farmed in the Pella area. He worked at Montoure, Inc. for 18 years, followed by Knope Heating and Cooling for 10 years until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by LaVerne Burmeister, his longtime companion; the son they raised, Cruz (Erin) Johnson; stepdaughter, Kery (Brandon) Vertane; grandchildren, Charlotte, Brantley, Maya and Natasha; brother and sisters: Kathy (Tim) Gast Sr., Carol Walter and William Scholar.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas, and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Scott Ludford officiating. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of service.
