Robert Roland Genke, “Bob,” 55, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born May 29, 1966, son of Roland and Diane (Neitzel) Genke in Shawano. Bob grew up in Bonduel and attended St. Paul Lutheran School through eighth grade and graduated from Bonduel High School in 1984.
After high school, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army and served on active duty from August 1985 to May 1988. After that, Bob attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. During that time, he also served in the National Guard until March 1993.
The career path Bob followed was an electrical technician with his last place of employment being Suburban Technologies in Appleton. Bob married his forever love, Toni Lindal, on Aug. 24, 2019. They bought a house in the Town of Neenah and worked together to make it their home.
Bob enjoyed anything outdoors — hunting, fishing, landscaping, gardening — and he was dubbed the “Grass Master” for his amazing ability to grow beautiful lawns. He was a hardworking, simple man who would do anything to help family and friends when needed. Bob was just a fun, happy and loving guy. He had a knack for repurposing “stuff” into awesome, useful items that he would fabricate and build.
He loved his wife unconditionally and was her best friend and forever partner. He loved his children beyond words and his whole family just the same. Bob was so proud of the young adults Zach and Riley have become. He was such an awesome grandpa, so patient and creative with all the littles. He had the best reading voice, and they all loved when he read to them.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Toni Lindal; son, Zach Genke (fiancé Cassie Bougie); daughter, Riley Genke; stepdaughter, Sarah (Nick) Sura; stepson, Earl (Makayla) School; five grandchildren, Easton School, Austin Sura, Addison School, Haven School and Ryker Sura; mother, Diane Genke; sister, Maureen Genke; brother, Mark (Tanya) Genke; four nephews, Carter Genke, Mason Genke, Kevin (Gabby) Bloom and Jeff Bloom; aunts and uncles, Mary (Allen) Schultz, Rozanne (Delmer) Zernicke and Marvin Neitzel; in-laws: Linda (Mike) Beranek, Tim Lindal Sr., Kelly (Lenny) Roy, Tim (Kelly) Lindal Jr. and Nicole Bowman.
Bob is further survived by many cousins and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Roland Genke Jr.; grandparents: Roland and Cecelia Genke, and Walter and Myrtle Neitzel; aunt, Joann Neitzel; and a cousin, Dustin Zernicke.
Memorial service for Bob will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at Westgor Funeral Home, Neenah, with Bob’s cousin, the Rev. Adam Shultz, officiating. A time of celebration will be held at the funeral home Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. until the memorial service. Full military honors will follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Bob was loved by so many and will be missed by anyone who knew him. Rest peacefully, my love.
