Ervin H. “2115” Reinke, 89, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. He was born on Jan. 28, 1932, to the late Albert and Hertha (Wudtke) Reinke Sr. On Aug. 22, 1956, Ervin was united in marriage to Genevieve “Gena” DeBauch in Gillett.
Ervin farmed the very land where he was born all his life. Ervin and his brother, Albert, did field work together often sharing and buying machines to do it. Ervin hunted whenever he had the time. During the summer he spent time training hounds to run bear. During the fall, he was bear, coon, and deer hunting; winter was bobcat, fox and coyote. He was always waiting for that fresh snow. When the snow was bad, he was ice fishing on a dozen or more different lakes. Mom used to say, if Dad put all that time into farming as he did in hunting, they would be millionaires.
Ervin is survived by his sons, Dan Reinke and David Reinke, siblings, Florence Rueckert and Harvey (Judy) Reinke; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Reinke.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve; his parents; four siblings, Maynard in infancy, Richard (Maxine), Albert Jr., and Helen (Joe) Bluma; and a brother-in-law, Wallin Rueckert.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Zachow, Pastor Virgil Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Angelica at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
