Arnold W. Block

Arnold W. Block died peacefully on Oct. 27, 2021, at The Bay at Suring nursing home, Suring, with family by his side. Arnold was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Spruce to the late Wilhelm and Orgena (Zarling) Block. On Oct. 28, 1945, he married Joyce Olderman at St. John’s Catholic Church, Gillett. Arnold worked at Warvel Products for many years. His passions were fishing, eating, camping and woodworking. He was known for giving the fishing report to everyone in Gillett. After working at Warvels, he loved cutting wood. He “lived in the woods” with Joyce and granddaughter Victoria. After that he started to make birdhouses, little tables and indoor and outdoor decor. People would always ask him what he was going to make next. Arnold and Joyce would camp in with their children and grandchildren whenever possible. Arnold is survived by seven children: Arnold P. Block of Green Bay, Raymond (Kathy) Block of Coleman, Robert Sr. “Joe” Block (Sandra) of Gillett, Gene Block of Oshkosh, Colleen Gilbertson Meyer (Todd) of Oconto Falls, Michael “Storm” Block (Jackie Nordbo) Oshkosh and Carey Jo Block of Green Bay. He is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild. Also survived by brother-in-law Tom Konitzer; sisters-in-law Shirley Block of Gillett, Yvonne Kirkenwitz of Bonduel, Anita Olderman of Hartford, Ilene (Tootsie) of Coleman; brothers, Lenard (Carrie) Block of Oconto Falls, Norman (Judy) Block of Grafton; daughter-in-law Donna Block Arcand (Al) and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Olderman Block, infant daughter Linda, son Daniel Block, brothers Kenneth and William Jr., sister Darlene Courchaine Konitzer, brother-in-law Harvey Kirchenwitz, daughter-in-law Corinne Leitzke Block, son-in-law Chuck Gilbertson, daughter-in-law Kris Maurer Block. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Arnold’s name. A memorial service will take place Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Kuehl Funeral Home, 108 E. Main St., Gillett, from 9 a.m. to noon.
