Carl E. Johnson

Carl E. Johnson was called home where hunting and fishing adventures are perfect each and every day. He was born on June 18, 1926, to Gustaf and Elsie (Ekman) Johnson. He was baptized on Sept. 5, 1926, in the Town of Maple Valley in the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation. He grew up on the family farm, Oconto Falls. On Dec. 17, 1960, Carl married Ruth Clausen-Belongia in Menomonee, Michigan. Carl lived in the Green Valley area all of his life where he farmed. He was also employed by the Scott Paper Co. in Oconto Falls, retiring in 1985 after 32 years of dedicated service. Carl will be lovingly remembered as a kind, gentle and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His witty and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed. Carl loved family, the farm, gardening, outdoors, fishing and deer hunting. He believed it is better to sit in a deer stand thinking about God than to sit in church thinking about deer hunting. Survivors are one son, Kent Johnson; two grandchildren, Kurt Johnson and Danielle (Brad) Smith; two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Charolette Johnson. Three stepchildren: Sandra Schuster and her family, John (Robie) Schuster, Deborah (Robert) Goodine, Connie Tikalsky and Julie (Robert) Popp; Tim (Roz) Belongia and their family, Lorraine (Craig) Jorgenson, James Belongia and Timothy (Kellie) Belongia; and René Schabow and her family, Suzy (Gary) McKeefry and Shari (Ron) Bitters. Two brothers, Arnold Johnson and David (Janice) Johnson; one sister, Lillian (George) Friedl; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth in 1998, one son Gary Johnson, one son-in-law, John “Jack” Schuster, two sisters, Ruth (Percy) Nass and Alma (Sylvan) Salesky, three brothers, Leonard (Mim) Johnson, Raymond Johnson and Gustave (Agnes) Johnson, and sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson.
