Esther Jenquine

Esther (Vandenbush) Jenquine, 96, of Lena, passed away on Feb. 27, 2021, at Woodside Senior Community in Green Bay with her family by her side. Born Nov. 19, 1924, to the late Albert and Nellie Vandenbush in the town of Preble. She married Harold Jenquine on June 7, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Green Bay. The couple moved to the Jenquine homestead in Lena where they farmed until they retired in 1987. She was a member of the St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena. Esther loved the outdoors, especially working in her big gardens. She enjoyed picking berries, playing cards, and she was always busy in her kitchen. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She loved spending time with her five children and many grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Penny (Ron) Elfe, of Green Bay, Donna (Allan) Arcand, of Gillett, Gene (Debi) Jenquine, of Abrams, and Gary (Michele) Jenquine, of Lena; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters, Maryann Horkman and Katie Wagner; and two sisters-in-law, Lavern Skarda and Dorothy Horkman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold; son, Richard; son-in-law, Daniel Block; sisters, Janett Harwood, Margaret Miller, Alice Nelson, Elsie Jenquine, Jill Vandenbush, Ethel Kushava and Rita Pike; stepsister Gladys Lamel; brothers Henry and Robert Vandenbush; stepbrothers Edwin and Tony Horkman; stepfather, Edward Horkman; sister-in-law Phyllic Rothlesberger; brothers-in-law Erling Miller, Arbin Nelson, Lee Wagner, Earl Jenquine, Henry Kushava, Marvin Jenquine, Robert Jenquine and Donald Skarda. Esther enjoyed the last two years relaxing at Woodside Assisted Living. She made many good friends and played a lot of cards too. She will be greatly missed by all. She wanted to thank Woodside and Unity Hospice for their care. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lena on Saturday, March 6 from 9-11 a.m. The service will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Felix Abano officiating. Esther will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery at a later date.
