On Jan. 16, 2021, Ila Mae Gipp joined the angels in heaven after 80 years of love, laughter and making so many memories with the ones she loved. She was born Aug. 18, 1940, in the Town of Cicero to the late Oscar and Meta (Madison) Gagnow.
After completing her general education in Seymour, she attended and received her degree from Wisconsin College of Cosmetology. Ila Mae was employed as a beautician at Spurgeon’s Department Store in Shawano. She was also a waitress for many years in the Shawano community.
On Feb. 14, 1961, Ila Mae was united in marriage to DeWayne Gipp. Throughout their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in Bonduel where they raised their two children, Brenda and Arnold Gipp. On March 25, 1972, DeWayne passed away.
Ila Mae is a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. She loved meeting new people and traveling. She also enjoyed cooking, and her favorite dish to bake was her corn noodle casserole. When the holidays came around, she would spend time baking Christmas cookies and making candies for all to enjoy. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family of Ila Mae includes her two children, Brenda (Tony) Koeppel, of Stevens Point, and Arnold (Julie) Gipp, of Bonduel; four grandchildren, Candace (Nathan) Strehlau, Steffanie (Joseph) Gehl, Amanda (Ryan) Krause and Jared (Christi) Gipp; 10 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Maebel, Monte, Delia, Carlie, Cody, Karly, Camden, Kiah and Isabel; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Preceding family members are her brothers, Orville (Marcella) Gagnow, Robert (Rachel) Gagnow, and Marvin Gagnow; her sisters, Arlis Gagnow, Elaine Gagnow, Violet (Eugene) Klosterman, Beverly Zuleger and Darlene Gagnow.
In keeping with Ila Mae’s wishes, private family funeral services have been held. To make a donation on Ila Mae’s behalf, memorials are preferred to the St. James Children’s Music Program or St. Jude’s Hospital.
Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano assisted the family with arrangements.
