Allan C. “Bud” Luniak, 87, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020. Al was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Shawano, a son of the late Frank and Ida (Bucholz) Luniak. He graduated from Marion High School and University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in civil engineering.
Following his graduation, Al served his country in the U.S. Navy. In his earlier years, Al enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing up north with friends. He also loved his regular weekly golf and sheepshead games with his buddies. Al worked for the state of Wisconsin transportation department for many years and also as an engineer at various local private companies.
Survivors include his special friend, Marilyn Richards; his niece, Susan (Larry) Reinke; and great-nieces, Jennifer (Eric) Sarauer and Amy (Ryan) Mikel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Jean Luniak and Melda Hellestad.
A memorial service for Allan C. Luniak will be held Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Lew Worthington will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano AmVets Post 10 at the cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday at 10 a.m. and continue until the time of service.
