Severe weather is back in the forecast for north-central and northeast Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service office in Green Bay has issued a winter storm warning is in effect for Oconto County from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 2.

Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total sleet accumulations up to 1 inch and ice accumulations between one-tenth and three-tenths of an inch.

Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.

Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the  morning commute.

Also, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the area, including Shawano, Menominee and Oconto counties.

Significant ice accumulations are expected south of Highway 29 after midnight April 2, with sleet accumulations anticipated along and north of Highway 29 late April 1. Hazardous travel is expected.

Significant ice and sleet accumulations are expected for central north-central and far northeast Wisconsin on April 2. Freezing

rain is also expected from the Fox Valley to the lakeshore in the morning. The combination of significant ice and sleet

accumulations, and east winds gusting to 30-40 mph, will likely result in broken tree limbs and power outages, especially

for locations west and north of the Fox Valley. Hazardous travel is expected, with impacts to the April 2 morning commute.

Thunderstorms, some possibly strong to severe, are possible late in the afternoon and evening of April 2. The greatest threat is

expected over east-central Wisconsin, including the Fox Valley and lakeshore areas, from 6-10 p.m. If strong storms

develop, damaging winds should be the primary threat.

Another significant system will bring heavy rainfall, with a wintry mix across mainly northern Wisconsin the night of April 3 into April 4. Thunderstorms will also be possible with this system.
