The 2025 National Night Out event in Shawano is slated to begin at 5 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Naborhood Plaza and Franklin Park.
Police, fire and EMS vehicles and personnel will be on hand. Staff will interact with children and adults about the vehicles, equipment and what they do day in and day out.
Children’s activities, food and refreshments will be available.
In addition, a chili cook-off will be held.
Bring your best batch of homemade chili and enter the contest. Registration is free, and three winners will be honored.
Ten Nesco entries will be available.

For four decades, police and community partnerships have been strengthened by the annual National Night Out event.
The event is meant to:
• Heighten crime awareness and promote drug awareness.
• Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, like Neighborhood Watch.
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.
• Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
