Marvin R. Genke

Marvin R. Genke, 84, formerly of Bonduel, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Shawano. Marvin was born on Sept. 7, 1929, to the late Richard and Helen (Zastrow) Genke in Shawano. On June 6, 1953, he married Betty Zittlow at Peace Lutheran Church in Kunesh. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Together Marvin and Betty farmed and raised four children. When they retired from farming they moved into Shawano. Marvin liked playing cards and enjoyed dancing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Dennis (Joan) Genke, Cecil, Diane (Ron) Little, Green Bay, and Roger (Patti) Genke, Shawano; 12 grandchildren, Aaron (Ashley) Genke, Andy Genke, Heather (Mike) Bogacz, Heidi Genke, Shannon (David) Morales, Randa (Joshua) Ruleford, Chanden Genke,Kyla Genke, Taylor Genke, Dylan Genke, Jamie and Holly; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gunnar, Parker, Aliya, Raelynn, Brynlee, McKenzey; a sister, Fern Buchholz, Bonduel; a sister-in-law, Crystal Genke, Hortonville; four brothers-in-law, Fred Zittlow, New Franken, Ken (Ellen) Zittlow, Green Bay, Clifford Jr. (Lynn) Zittlow, Green Bay, and Charles Zittlow, Appleton; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a son, Richard Genke; two sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Family and friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
