In loving memory of Marilyn Beth (Stoerrle) Russell, of Oconto Falls, and Santa Maria, California, who died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015.
Marilyn graduated high school in Oconto Falls, Class of ’53. She was active in band, French, glee and many other clubs, and of course, playing the oboe. She served honorably in the Air Force, married, had a baby girl, settled in Southern California. Over the years she worked for various business firms, including the Dos Pueblos Orchid Company of Santa Barbara, eventually retiring to Santa Maria.
She gave to any charity that asked. She chose to believe the best about what they did with her money, no matter what was discovered online. Marilyn was an avid iBooks reader and loved to iMessage about “Game of Thrones,” the Bible and Dostoevsky.
If you’re about to throw away a cat statue or a Christmas angel, stop. Marilyn blessed us with a valuable lesson perfected during her almost 79 years: One can never have too many knickknacks.
Preceding Marilyn in death was Bill, the love of her life; loyal dogs Baron and Katie; mother, Gladys, and father, Merle.
She’s survived by a daughter, Gina, and a grandchild, Michael Ryan (husband Chris), as well as siblings Bruce, Mickey, Tommy and Jimmy, and Blue the cat.
Marilyn’s final request is for you to write your congressman asking that daylight saving be repealed. The older Marilyn got, the more she wanted everyone to get back on the Lord’s time.
Cremation and interment will be private.
