Man arrested after Waukechon drug raid

Shawano County authorities arrested a 50-year-old Shawano man Thursday after raiding an alleged drug operation in the town of Waukechon. Sheriff’s detectives and deputies executed a search warrant about 9 a.m. on County Road CC and seized evidence they said indicated an indoor growing operation, including more than a half-pound of a substance believed to be marijuana and several items considered to be drug paraphernalia. Deputies also encountered what they believe to be a surveillance system at the residence. The warrant was issued after an ongoing investigation revealed that probable cause existed that drug activity was occurring at the residence, the sheriff’s department reported. The man taken into custody at the residence is being held in the Shawano County Jail on charges alleging possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a drug house and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges are being forwarded to the Shawano-Menominee County District Attorney for review, and the investigation is ongoing. No further information was being released Thursday. The Leader does not name suspects until they have been charged.
