Mable I. Kruppa

Mable I. Kruppa, 88, of Suring, passed away peacefully at home with family on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She was known to those who loved her as Granny on the Farm, Mom, Ma, Auntie Mae or just Mae to friends. Mable was born on March 1, 1936, to the late John and Vera (Waltman) Greyslak and grew up in Kilbourn (now Wisconsin Dells) as one of seven children. In 1954, Mable enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she met her future husband, Herbert Kruppa. After marrying, the couple moved to Chicago and began to grow their family. In 1965, they moved to Des Plaines to raise their five children before retiring to Suring in 1987. She was very active in her community for over 20 years as an election judge, library board member, organizing M&O Days as well as book club and exercise club. She liked painting, drawing, making cards and telling stories, but her greatest joy was her family. Mable is survived by her children, Diane (Jim) Drake, Chester Kruppa, James (Lisa) Kruppa and Linda Kruppa; daughter-in-law, Susan; grandchildren, Mac, Casey, Martha, Joel, Ben, Noelle, Byron, Blake and James; great-grandchildren, Ivy, Sage, Ryan, Owen, Lex, Gwen, Abby, Lucas, Joey, Charlie and Jackson; siblings, Norma, Betty and Dick. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; son, Herbert; sisters, Freda and Marge; brother, Phil Helley. A celebration of life will be held for Mable on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the How Town Hall from 1-5 p.m. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
