Lyle George Gehm, 71, of Bonduel, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, in Shawano.
Lyle was born in Shawano on Jan. 1, 1944, to the late George and Emma (Klosterman) Gehm. On Feb. 6, 1965, Lyle was united in marriage to Carol Ann Niles at St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil. He farmed until 1991, then worked at Sturm Foods in Manawa until retiring in 2011. He was a volunteer and fire chief for the Town of Hartland Fire Department. He was also formerly an EMS in Bonduel, taught CPR at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and was a part- time Shawano County deputy. He served on the Bonduel Civic Association, the Hartland Town Board as clerk and the Bonduel School Board. He loved baseball and enjoyed umpiring for Little League and Dairyland League games. He was also a member of the Lanstad and Bonduel baseball clubs. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandchildren, gardening, canning, and “as seen on TV” shopping.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Ann; their sons, Russ (Jessica) and Chris (Christine); his grandchildren, Zach Koch-Gehm, Shawn Stefanski, Cameri Gehm and Claire Gehm; one sister, Ione (Jim) Grunewald; one brother-in-law, Jack (Donna) Niles; sisters-in-law, Jane Dedering, Nancy (Al) Borth and Pat Mundt; dear family friend, Sherri Greer; as well as other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Ann; his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in- law, Rush and Dorothy Niles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Timothy Shoup and the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
