Little Hearts for Life will hold its fifth annual corn roast from 12-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Joel and Ginny O’Harrow’s house, 8187 Gray Lake Road, Oconto Falls.
All proceeds from the corn roast go toward pediatric heart research through Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. In the first four years of the event, Little Hearts for Life donated $73,000 to research.
Banners showing images of local kids who have a form of a congenital heart defect, as well as banners showing the research projects Little Hearts for Life has helped to fund, will be displayed at the event.
One in 100 babies is born each year with some form of congenital heart defect.
Tickets for the corn roast are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 4-12. Included in the price is roasted sweet corn, sloppy Joes, baked beans, hot dogs (donated by Witt’s Piggly Wiggly) and a chance to win a basket of prizes donated by Andy and Jenny Mercier.
Activities for the kids include face painting, a petting zoo, giant sandbox and a kids game area.
Under the raffle tent will be baskets for all ages. An interactive paddle raffle will happen throughout the day, and a bake sale will take place.
