During winter break, the Shawano City-County Library children’s department will feature drop-in crafts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday.
Kids can make snowmen, mittens, snowflakes and more. Also on craft days, a free lunch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 11 a.m. for those under 18. Lunch is funded in part with grants from the Institute of Museum & Library Services and from the Library Services and Technology Act.
The library will be closed Friday and Saturday for New Year’s.
The Shawano City-County Library also has several free programs offered in January. Children’s programs are Baby & Me at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Story Time at 10 a.m. Wednesdays and Gather ‘Round at 10 a.m. Thursdays.
Teen Tuesdays occur weekly from 3-5 p.m. Teens can drop in at any point to take part in fun activities and snacks. January programs will feature making stress balls, the Brush with Danger game, granola bars and hula hooping.
Be sure to stop in and sign up for the Not So Summer Reading program that runs through Jan. 4. There’s a chance to win great prizes!
Adult programs include Needles ‘R Us at 9 a.m. every Friday. Bring your needlework project and enjoy creating with others.
Soup Fridays return by popular demand. Stop in for a warm soup lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Fridays from Jan. 8 through Jan. 29.
The Learning Lab will host a class on borrowing ebooks at 9 a.m. Jan. 7. In addition to ebooks, the library now has emagazines available to borrow.
