Letter: Single-payer system not health care solution

To the editor: So you say you want single-payer health care to replace the disaster of Obamacare? Well, now if you had relatives who live in a country that has it, you might not feel this way! We have family living in Windsor, Ontario, who won’t go to their government run health care system for anything greater than a Band-Aid boo-boo! They come to Detroit, Michigan, USA, to get treatment for serious ailments and pay out of pocket rather than trust the underpaid and overworked Canada health care disaster! Waiting months to get appointments with specialists and having a medical board tell you what you can and cannot get for treatment doesn’t cut it, either. (These board members many times have zero medical background.) That’s why Canada tried to get away from it several years ago and that is why Denmark is currently running away from socialized medicine now! Be careful what you wish for as you may get something far worse. Just remember, the people who are pushing single-payer are the same ones who told you Obamacare was just what we need.
